Kay Bojesen's Nightingale Songbird is inspired by H.C. Andersen’s famous fairy tale of the same name.

The fairy tale was published in 1843 and revolves around a nightingale whose captivating song enchants the Emperor. However, when the Emperor is presented with a mechanical nightingale, he forgets about the real one, causing it to fly away. Eventually, as the Emperor falls gravely ill, the nightingale returns and heals him with its exquisite melody. The Nightingale Songbird's colors draw inspiration from the beautiful Chinese nightingale depicted in the tale.
